Preschool Classes
All Preschool classes are designed for children age 3-5. Parents are
encouraged to watch or participate in all activities. The fee for these
classes is $2.00 per child.
Tiny Chefs – A cooking class designed for children to learn how to be
a “real chef”.

Camp
Currently, children under the age of 14 years are not allowed to
be at the Center unless they are supervised by someone at least 16
years of age. In order to serve more children in the community we
will be hosting a summer camp for ages 8-13 years. All children in
this age group who visit the Rec Center without a parent from
10am-6pm Monday thru Friday MUST attend the summer camp. Programmed
activities include swimming, gym time, arts and crafts, outside
time, and other fun games. Each Wednesday at 11am will be Girl Scout
activities for female campers. Male campers will enjoy outside
activities on Wednesdays at 11am. Free lunch will be provided;
however, campers need to bring one snack, a swimsuit, a towel, and
sunscreen each day. The cost will be regular daily admission to the
Aycock Rec Center ($2 for Vance County residents, $5 for
non-residents). Campers cannot be dropped off before 10am on M/W/F
or before 12 noon on Tues/Thurs. All campers MUST be picked up by
6pm or suspension from the Aycock Rec Center will result.
Pre-registration is not required. Camp will be held June 11 – August

General Programs
Henderson Rec Players – (252) 431-6091
Rec Players is a drama program celebrating its 35th year of theatre
excellence. Two shows are performed each season during the summer.

Kickboxing – (252) 438-3408
An aerobic kickboxing class is held at the Recreation Center
every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6:30-7:30pm for young adults
and adults age 16 and older. The fee is $2.50 per class.
Senior Dance – (252) 431-6091
The Recreation Department offers a quarterly Senior Dance for
senior citizens ages 55 and up. Live band and light refreshments are
provided. The fee is $3.00 per person or $5.00 per couple.
Golden Age Club – (252) 431-6091
This ladies senior citizens club meets every Wednesday at 10am at
the First Presbyterian Church. The group enjoys weekly brunch and
monthly field trips. Dues are $1.00 per month.
Region
K Senior Games – (252) 431-6091
The Recreation Department serves as the Vance County host for Region K
Senior Games. Each Spring two days of games will be held in Vance
County. Seniors age 55 and older can enjoy shuffleboard at Fox Pond Park
and table tennis, croquet, walking, and badminton at the Aycock
Recreation Center. Registration forms can be picked up at the Vance
County Senior Center.

Vance County VIPs
Recreation activities are offered for area residents who have a
visual impairment. The department offers a variety of monthly
activities that include athletic programs, trips, support group
meetings, family outings and special events. Each activity is
designed to meet the interests of all ages. Average attendance for
the group is 25. Call for a schedule.
Exceptional Athlete Challenge
Sporting events are held seasonally for persons with
disabilities. Previous events have included badminton and table
tennis tournaments. Please call for a schedule.

Easter
Egg Hunt
The annual Egg Hunt is held each Spring for children up to 8 years of
age. Children enjoy hunting for toy-filled eggs, jumping in the bounce
house, and socializing with the Easter Bunny. The event is free;
however, for only $2.00 children can have their picture made with the
Bunny.
Fall Festival
The gym is transformed into a carnival of games and activities
with face painting and a professional DJ and the second floor is
turned into a haunted house. Little ghosts and goblins also enjoy a
spooky tour on an eerie hayride. The event is free; however,
activity tickets are 25 cents.
Cookies and Milk With Santa
Each December Santa visits the Aycock Rec Center for refreshments and picture time. For only $2.00 children can have their pictures taken. Children can enjoy cookies and milk, a coloring contest, and visiting with Old Saint Nick.
